Our Story

“There has to be more to life than this.”

God drew Greg and Cheryl Leathers closer to him as they each grappled with that statement. Each followed a different path in their youth, but both found meaning and purpose for their life in a relationship with God. After meeting at church God drew them together and each faithfully served in their professions as they raised a family.

But in 2012, God called them to something more.

Our mission is to share Jesus by being his hands and feet wherever God leads. What began as a calling in 2012 to lead a mission trip to Honduras has grown into a full-time ministry for Greg and Cheryl Leathers. Today they are coordinating and leading missions efforts focused on medical ministry, water purification, Bible study, leadership training and more.

IHN believes:

In One God – Father, Son and Holy Spirit – the Creator of all things.

That Jesus Christ is God’s one and only Son, our only Savior, born of a virgin, suffered, died, was buried and bodily rose again. He ascended into Heaven and will come again.

The Holy Spirit indwells every Christian.

The Bible is God’s inspired Holy Word, without error. We accept the Bible as the final authority for all matters of faith and practice.

Through the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ we are offered the gift of salvation. Receiving Christ in faith necessitates response on our part that includes belief, repentance, confession, baptism by immersion and perseverance.

It takes a TEAM!

The mission team from Okolona Christian and IHN had the support of so many helpers with our recent Honduras trip. We're so thankful for each of you who were our HOME TEAM who prayed, assisted in the preparations and did so many things to make this trip possible.

Each day when we closed the camp, we used the bracelets made by Mary Imlay's 4th grade STEM class at Christian Academy of Louisville. We shared that these bracelets were made to let the Honduran kids know that they are loved by kids in another part of the world and that God's kingdom is everywhere!

Another daily camp activity was painting t-shirts that were donated by MPC Promotions with assistance from Christina Underwood. The t-shirts were printed in Spanish with "Created in Christ - Designed for God's Purpose." The kids were able to place their handprints on the t-shirts. Our team members assisted over 140 kids and painted over 300 hands!

Thank you, Mary and Christina!

"My heart will never be the same!"

We recently had the opportunity to serve in Honduras through Lifeline and Okolona Christian Church. God moved in a mighty way before, during and after this trip!
We are in awe!

Hearts were changed to openly love others, pray for and with others and trust God in all things, all the time! Now we have to examine ourselves. We were only in Honduras for a week, now how will we serve the other 51 weeks of the year?

During our trip, we served three different groups of children in a camp specifically designed for them to understand that they are valued and how they can be a part of God's kingdom here on earth. This was shared through devotions, games, crafts and pizza! The obstacle course and water balloons were a big hit!
Thanks to all of the planning from our Honduras family!

Our time in Los Diamantes was a treasure as we worshiped and celebrated together with graduates from the computer and sewing classes. We all worked together to move rock and sand at the church to help prepare a garden area and a fire pit for future gatherings. As we made visits to four homes, we were humbled. We heard story after story of how God had changed their lives through the hands, feet and hearts of the people in this community.
As we traveled home one team member commented,
"My heart will never be the same."

A Favorite Time for IHN!

Once again, Cheryl got to visit Mrs. Mary Imlay's 4th grade STEM class at Christian Academy of Louisville and share what God is doing through In His Name.

Her class has partnered with us in sharing the Gospel of Jesus through hands-on projects over the past several years. They listened and saw what life is like in Honduras and Uganda. The class is currently making woven bracelets for the children in other countries that will be distributed by IHN. The bracelet will include a personal reminder about Jesus and something about the student who made the bracelet. They are excited about their opportunity to share Jesus with other children around the world!

Serving in Honduras

In March, IHN served with Lifeline Christian Mission as Field Guides in Tegucigalpa, Honduras with the Okolona Christian Church team. We were given opportunities in three communities to serve alongside the Honduran people and be a part of what God is doing there.

We were so thankful to see that the church at Los Diamantes is growing!
It is reaching out in the community to change lives in the Lord and empower the people toward sustainability.

Jesus' love is being shared and lives are being changed!
